Recruitment for GBV Officer Position
With support from the NHF, A2WG will be implementing a protection project with a specific focus on Gender Based Violence (GBV). The project will be implemented by A2WG and jointly with AGUF (Agaji Global Unity Foundation) across 2 locations, viz., Gwoza, Adamawa state. The project focuses on Strengthening Community Resilience and Survivor-Centered GBV Prevention and Response for Conflict-Affected Women, Girls, and Vulnerable Groups. Following a holistic approach, the program targets returnees, IDPs, host communities, traditional/religious leaders, and people living with disabilities.

About this role
The GBV Officer will be responsible for leading the protection response with a focus on Community Engagement. S/he will ensure the implementation of protection activities in line with best practices and standards, including community engagements, assessment, capacity building, and coordination.
Responsibilities
• Conduct community and stakeholder engagements to identify protection needs and
barriers faced by women and girls with disabilities.
• Provide technical supervision, support, and guidance to caseworkers.
• Schedule and organize weekly and ad-hoc case discussion meetings.
• Keep the referral pathway updated through regular service mapping.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the project team.
• Coordinate with other organizations and stakeholders to enhance collaboration and resource sharing.
• Prepare and submit regular monthly reports on key project progress and achievements to the Project Manager.
• Identify concerns related to and support adherence to GBV referral protocols and GBV guiding principles and bring these concerns to the Case Management Officer.
Assessment
• Participate, when needed, in project assessments: surveys, data collection, filling questionnaires and forms, data entry, conducting interviews, FGD, etc.
Capacity building
• Assess the skills and attitudes of caseworkers as well as provide relevant guidance and technical support accordingly.
• Provide continued support through mentoring and coaching to community- based facilitators and safe-space supervisors.
• Support and monitor women's empowerment and adolescent girls' activities, enhancing community capacity through training and mentoring for women and girls committees, including dissemination of GBV information and facilitating safe referrals.
Coordination, Meeting & Representation
• Coordinate closely with MHPSS and Health teams as well as other protection/GBV agencies to ensure comprehensive and quality service delivery and referrals.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders, including community leaders, other humanitarian partners, and service providers.
• Liaise with other NGOs for events, campaigns, and services available in the area.
• Ensure communication and coordination with other departments/teams about internal referrals.
• Attend meetings on behalf of A2WG as relevant or requested. Serve as an internal and external focal point of A2WG GBV Case Management response.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in any of the social sciences, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in core protection or GBV projects, including disability programming and inclusion.
• Strong understanding of gender-based violence issues and protection mechanisms.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse team.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages and emailing.
