About the Event
Women Leading the Change is a transformative leadership initiative designed to empower and amplify the voices of Nigerian women in the democratic and electoral space. This first-of-its-kind cohort targets dynamic women between the ages of 18 and 40 who are passionate about governance, civic engagement, and influencing political change at all levels.
With Nigeria’s evolving democratic landscape, now more than ever, women’s full and meaningful participation is crucial. Through a well-curated and expertly delivered 3-month virtual training, participants will gain the tools, strategies, and networks to organize, advocate, and lead effectively in their communities and beyond.
Training Focus Areas
Over the course of the program, participants will undergo intensive and interactive sessions led by experienced facilitators, policy experts, and grassroots organizers. The training curriculum includes:
🧭 Community Organizing & Mobilization
Learn the foundations of building people power from the ground up.
⚡ Power and Power Mapping
Understand political influence, power structures, and how to strategically engage.
🗣️ Advocacy Strategy & Tactics
Develop compelling strategies for policy influence and civic action.
🗳️ Current Electoral Reforms in Nigeria
Stay up-to-date with recent changes and how they impact women’s participation.
🎯 Issue Framing & Advocacy Messaging
Master the art of framing your cause and shaping public narratives.
🤝 Coalitions and Strategic Alliances
Learn how to build sustainable coalitions that drive impact.
🏘️ Local Grassroots Assembly Formation
Get practical skills to convene, organize, and sustain community action.
Who Can Apply?
- We are calling on a powerful and diverse group of women who are ready to lead change, including:
- Women aged 18–40 years across Nigeria
- Leaders of non-governmental or community-based organizations
- Development professionals working in civic, governance, or political spaces
- Passionate individuals committed to gender equity and democratic reforms
- Women domiciled in Northeast Nigeria, particularly from:
